12th Annual Youth Football Camp

June 9, 2017 to June 11, 2017

What's It All About?

Get your season off to a running start – the road to becoming a champion starts here!

The St. Vital Mustangs Youth Football camp is run by experienced Mustang coaches from teams in all age groups, along with the assistance of special guest coaches.

Our coaches have 100+ years of combined football experience, which ensures players will learn tried and tested football techniques in a safe, fun environment. The techniques taught through instruction and drills performed during the camp will assist the players in advancing their overall development and give them a leg-up on the competition.

It will also provide the players with an idea of what to expect when the regular season begins. During contact drills, players will be matched based on their age, size and skill level wherever possible and instruction is tailored to the level the athletes are expected to be playing at once the regular season begins.

As a result, new players and veterans alike are encouraged to attend this camp.  All players, regardless of age, experience or ability should be prepared to work hard and have fun!

Camp Format

The camp will be divided into the following two main groups.

Rookie Camp

“Rookie Camp” which includes all Cruncher (Terminators), 1st year Atom players and any other players who have not played tackle football before. The Rookie camp will be an intensive 3 day “blocking and tackling” workshop that will focus on teaching the proper fundamentals of two of the most important skills required to play football: Blocking and Tackling. In addition, players attending the Rookie Camp will be exposed to other basic skills such as throwing and catching a football, and how to secure the football. Players will also be introduced to the basic rules of football in order to help them understand how the game is played.

Veteran Camp

“Veteran Camp” is intended for all returning players who have played at least 1 year of tackle football at any level (other than Cruncher/Terminator).  The intent of this camp is to be position specific and to focus not just on reinforcing the fundamentals, but also teaching advanced skills required to excel at your chosen position. Players enrolled in the Veteran Camp will be further divided into positional groups and will spend their time at camp immersed in instruction at their primary position with a view to building upon the skill set they have already acquired and getting a jump on the competition.

NOTE: Players may be moved from Rookie Camp to Veteran Camp and vice versa at the Coaches’ sole discretion.

What To Wear

The Youth Football Camp is a contact camp and full equipment is required. Players must wear proper equipment for tackle football (incl. mouth guard) or they will not be allowed to participate.  Equipment fitting dates will be posted on the website prior to the start of Camp.

NOTE: Dates and times maybe subject to change. We will not contact everyone individually, so please consider your player registered unless otherwise notified and check the Mustangs website regularly www.mustangsfootball.ca

You must be a registered St. Vital Mustang player for the 2017 season in order to receive equipment and be covered by insurance.  Players from other football programs will need a signed waiver form from Football Manitoba indicating they are insured.
